Initialed L.S. for Louis Solon, the clock face with
retailer's mark for John Mortlock & Co., London.
21 3/4 h X 16 1/4" w
The ebonized wood square carcass with lunette-shaped
pediment and columns at each angel, the circular clock
face centrally inset and with Arabic chapters, the front
applied with pāte-sur-pāte
plaquettes decorated in white paste on the olive-green
ground with nymphs and putti emblematic of time.
(column finials lacking, the central panel above the
clock face cracked).
